Kona Unit / LBF / MTB Sizing

Kona suggests sizes but we'd always recommend test-riding the bike as everyone has different proportions and preferences. We'd say it's especially important if you straddle two sizes.

If you feel little difference between sizes, opting for the smaller generally offers more adaptability down the line. Bikes can quite easily be made to feel bigger, but when trying to shrink a bike that feels too big, your options are more limited.

Bikepacking has evolved and in the echo of enthusiast's cries, the Kona Unity enters the game. It might be the ultimate utilitarian bike – it’s a mountain bike, it’s a gravel bike, it’s a bikepacking mule, a burly beast built to go further, deeper, and more rugged than most bikes dare.

Kona wanted big tires. And mixed wheels! The mullet (29" Front / 27.5" Rear) setup brings the center of gravity where they wanted it, makes a stronger rear wheel, and allows for more clearance when it comes to rear racks and seat bags. They wanted the Unity to carry more without sacrificing ride quality, so they dialed in fork offset and handling to stay predictable when you’re fully packed.

Whether you’re riding across a mountain range or building an off-grid battle cruiser, the Unity has your back – and front.

Shimano XT Linkglide 11-speed drivetrain is durable, reliable, and made for real-world abuse. 4-piston brakes paired with 203mm, 2.3mm thick rotors offer serious stopping power and heat management. WTB KOM Tough i40 rims and Ranger TCS Tough tires are wide, burly, and ready for punishment, the perfect match for loaded travel over unpredictable terrain.

A purpose-built, oversized front triangle gives you the biggest possible footprint for frame bags, meaning the Unity has room for anything. A total of 20 bosses across the top tube, down tube, stays and rest of the frame, paired with 11 points on the fork, give endless modular set-up options. If you can bolt it on, the Unity can handle it.

The beautifully designed, frame-mounted front rack has 12 mounting points and carries up to 6kg. Kona's team purposefully bolted it directly to the frame so it won't influence your steering. No flop, no sway, just predictable handling, even with a week’s worth of gear strapped on.
